Why the home team has the advantage
The team playing at home usually keeps the ball more in the attacking half, with the crowd behind it and more initiative. More time attacking means more crosses and more deflected shots, and that is where corners come from. The advantage is not the same everywhere: in some leagues it is large, in others it almost disappears.

What this changes in the analysis
To look at a match, use the home team's average playing at home and the away team's average playing away, not each team's overall average. Then compare with the league average, since the home advantage varies from one league to another. The statistics page has the home and away averages for every league.
Statistics show a trend, not a certainty. Corners vary a lot from one match to the next.
